For everyone who works in a UAE public or private school: teachers, teaching assistants, office staff, bus staff, coaches, nurses, counsellors and volunteers. You don't need to be good with technology. You will learn what online harm to students looks like: cyberbullying, grooming and exploitation, online blackmail (sextortion) and image-based abuse, harmful content, scams and risks in gaming. You will learn the signs that a student may be harmed online, and exactly what to do when a student shows you something on a phone: don't copy, forward, screenshot or delete it, don't ask to see more, and tell your child protection lead straight away. You will learn what UAE law says about images of students, how to keep professional boundaries in your own online life, what your school's acceptable use rules usually cover, and where reports go in your kind of school. It is built on Federal Law No. 3 of 2016 on Child Rights (Wadeema's Law), Federal Decree-Law No. 34 of 2021 on combatting rumours and cybercrimes, Federal Decree-Law No. 26 of 2025 on child digital safety, Cabinet Resolution No. 106 of 2026 on children and social media, and the rules of the Ministry of Education, ADEK and KHDA. Your school's own child protection, digital and behaviour policies and staff code of conduct set the detail.

For most students, life online and life offline are one life. They chat with classmates in the evening, play games with friends and strangers, and watch videos on the bus. Most of the time, this is a normal and good part of growing up. But it also brings risks, and what happens online often shows up in school the next morning.
This course is for everyone who works in a UAE school: teachers, teaching assistants, office staff, bus staff, coaches, nurses, counsellors and volunteers. You don't need to be good with technology. You don't need to know every app or game. Students often know more about apps than adults do, and that's fine.
Some parts of this course deal with sexual abuse, blackmail and self-harm. If anything here upsets you, or brings up something from your own life, talk to your child protection lead or use your employer's staff support.
Hamdan is in Grade 6. He has always been cheerful in class. For two weeks, he has been falling asleep in lessons. When his phone buzzes in his bag, he looks frightened. At break, he sits alone. Nobody at school knows that a 'friend' he met in an online game has started asking him for photos.
Hamdan's teachers don't need to see his phone to help him. They need to notice the change, stay calm, and pass it on to the right person.
Based on: general good practice (students' online lives, the three jobs, Hamdan and the reveal), and the UAE Child Digital Safety law (Federal Decree-Law No. 26 of 2025, Article 14), which calls for digital safety training for teachers.
