For all staff in UAE schools, public and private, in every emirate: teachers, assistants, office, bus and other staff. You will learn what UAE rules allow when a student may hurt themselves or someone else, from ADEK's positive handling rules in Abu Dhabi private and charter schools to the Ministry of Education's rule on stopping fights, and what is never allowed anywhere: force as a punishment, locking a student in a room, sending a student out of class alone, or taking items from a student by force. You will practise following the rules on physical contact and gender, calming things down early, following a student's support plan, deciding whether stepping in is needed and safe, and the safer handling principles that protect breathing and dignity. You will also learn what to do straight after an incident, how to tell first and then write it down, and how to report any misuse of force to your child protection lead straight away. This is an awareness course: it does not teach holds. Use only holds your school has trained you in. It is built on Ministerial Resolution No. 851 of 2018, ADEK's Student Behavior Policy, Wadeema's Law and the UAE codes of conduct for education staff. Your school's policy has the detail.

12 questions are selected for each attempt, one group per learning outcome. You need 80% to pass. If you do not pass, the feedback points you back to the section each question came from. You have 3 attempts to pass. A pass is never counted, so you can always take the course again once you have passed. 5 attempts that do not pass within 12 months close the assessment for 12 months.
An employer sees whether you passed and your certificate. They never see your answers, your scores or how many attempts you took.
11 sections you can read or listen to, and a certificate when you pass.
One section is open below. The other 10, the narration, the transcripts and the assessment come with Premium.
Most days in school, you will never need to hold a student. But a fight, a student running towards a road, or a student hurting themselves can happen in seconds. This course helps you know what UAE rules allow, what they never allow, and how to keep everyone as safe as you can.
This is an awareness course. It does not teach holds, and finishing it does not mean you are trained to hold a student. Use only holds your school has trained you in.
Guiding a student away by the arm is not the same as holding them. ADEK's own description runs from guiding an injured student to safety by the arm, to restraining a student who is violently injuring a classmate.
This course is for all school staff: teachers, assistants, office, bus and other staff. If you work through an agency, ask the school on day one what its policy says you may do.
Based on: ADEK's School Student Behavior Policy (version 1.3, November 2025: Definitions, page 4, positive handling, from guiding an injured student by the arm to restraining a student who is violently injuring a peer); and general good practice (that this course does not train holds, using only holds your school has trained you in, the plain English meanings of 'physical contact', 'physical intervention' and 'force', the agency staff line, and the check).
